Loss of items due to rollback

by chapi » Mon Jul 13, 2015 12:22 pm

Hi, I just lost roughly 60 thick leather + 3 recipes I learned after getting to 245+ LW that I had in my bank for quite a long time,
I don't have proof about it as I clearly don't take screenshots all the time in case of a rollback, and I guess it's a lost cause to get it back,
But I'm just afraid, I mean we get about 10 rollbacks a day, do you have any hint like, if I loot an epic, if I reset my talent etc, is there something I can do to make sure it will be stored in case of rollback? Would be nice to know

Regards,

Sadly Nostalrius doesn't recover lost/deleted items unless it meets a certain criteria.

Epic raid items can be restored in the case of a server crash/roll-back, providing a message is sent to us which fulfills the following conditions:

Exact date of the raid;
Screenshot of the raid ID;
Screenshot of the loot & Full list of raid members;
Name of the player who received the item.

As I posted in the original post I'm aware of that, but is there a way we can "save" our chars status, like lets stay after respeccing? does relogging work? because with the status of the server right now I'm afraid to even respec :(

I don't understand - if you had 60 thick leather and recipes in the bank, then you took it out and used it or whatever, and BOOM the server crashed - then wouldn't the leather & recipes/patterns/whatever be back in the bank where it was before the server rollback point? (Am I misunderstanding what happened?)

The only real risk I could see is for people that kill a mob which drops very rare items (such as a boss in an instance, raid, etc) and they get a rare item and then the server crashes and rolls them back to before they killed that boss. Then, that would suck.

I would say logging out would usually logically call a save to the DB.

Well, not always the case.

Some transactions have an instant reflection on the database. Some, take place in memory and are saved on player logout, or are flushed at other intervals.

What is confusing is that I would have expected that either the item would still be in the bank, or in the inventory. It'd quite quite an unlucky situation the a flush to DB happened at the point where the item was removed from inventory but the created item not made.

That part, I don't think makes sense.

Thanks for reply, I will relog anytime I spend money or loot an epic or something like that now.
And things happened as I explained, I actually spent like 3mn reorganizing stuff in my bank after using the leather and stuff, and then serv crashed. When I relogged things were exactly as I reorganized them so I kept on playing for 10mn then when I checked my skills page I saw that my skill was back to 234 and thought "wtf" :/
I don't care about getting it back it's like 5g of mats and I wouldn't try to scam for something like that but it just makes me afraid for the day it happens with high end mats which is why I posted to eventually get a solution.

Dude you literally just repeated what I said in different wording. Yeah, it doesn't make sense. That was my point.

Not really, no. As I understood what you were saying, you were suggesting the OP wasn't down anything. Or that it couldn't be that it happened this way.

What I was saying was that if the transactions are not performed together it COULD result in this kind of loss, that the inventory was updates, but the skill up wasn't.

I'm not sure why a flush wouldn't be entire, hence why I said I didn't understand why it would happen this way and was weird.

Enable .save command to everyone, until the server is so unreliable because of DCs, rollbacks...
