Banned for Lockpicking?

Hello,

I was banned for lockpicking footlockers in searing gorge. I didn't use any third party applications, and simply stood in the same place and clicked for several hours while watching movies and doing homework. I took special care to take breaks and click at irregular intervals so that it would it would be apparent that I was not botting, and I was actually there, clicking each time.

I am now banned for "botting" but I did no such thing. I understand that I may have taken advantage of game mechanics, but it seems like my ban is permanent. I had a over 15 days played on the account, and I do not think that a permanent ban was warranted in this situation, the 10 or 15 health pots I was looting per hour were not in any way game breaking.

snipe07 was the account, character was Cragfist. Any further clarification would be really appreciated.

Greetings jaredp,

I was there at the time of your ban on May 28th. We extensively verified that you were using 3rd party software to click for you.

Again, I didn't use any software.

I set up a solenoid, a 9volt battery, and 555 integrated circuit timers. I wired 555s to fire the solenoid every 7seconds which hit mouse right click. I used the lootfilter add-on to filter out all loot but the health pots.

I used only solid state electronics to accomplish this. There was no programming. No software. Only electricity and the osculating piece of quartz in the 555 timers. I read through the terms of service, and only 3rd party software was against the rules. I specifically made this setup because I understood your terms of service.

I thought I could use my electrical engineering degree to my advantage, but it looks like I shot myself in the foot. I was really not trying to be malicious, was just trying to get a good supply of health pots for PvP and thought I was being clever. I accept that I was abusing something in game. But I wish that you would re-evaluate, maybe slap me with a 1 or 2 month ban instead of a permanent ban. I can send you a photo of my mouse setup if you want.

Clever but unfortunately this still counts as botting and the ban is permanent.

I hate cheats and I hate botting - However in this case I think a temp ban would have been in order and then update you TOS to cover "non software"

I totally agree a ban is order when the TOS is broken but when its a little grey a temp ban and a TOS update.

Always think ahead: Is the game meant to be played like this? No? Then better dont do it. Why everybody tries to cheese the game as good as he can? Just play the damn game and be fine with it. Jeez.

There have been people in the past not adhering to the TOS and received timed bans - I am just saying that on this occasion I think a permaban is very harsh - A temp ban and an update sets the precedence for future issues like this.

At the end of the day I don't make the rules and its just my opinion.

Hahaha holy cow. Although I agree with the ban, hats off to the literal botter. This is the most golden thing I've read in a while.
