Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

So I have been experiencing some lag after logging in for anywhere from 5-45 minutes and was wondering what would be the cause? Not sure how to describe it but it's like this pulsating lag where it hangs every 2 seconds and animations slow down for half a second. It's extremely frustrating. Any help on this subject would be appreciated.
