Game minimizing on start up

I recently downloaded the game for the first time, extracting the .ZIP folder and installed the game the way it is meant to be installed.

However, when I start the game up, the screen flashes a few dim colours like black and very dark blue, then minimizes. It does this every time and I cannot get into the game, I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing works.

Any help?

Open the Config.wtf file in the WTF folder and change the gxResolution property to 800x600, save, see if it makes a difference.
