Hey guys.

I installed that WoW client from your Website and i am glad to play WoW Vanilla on your realm.

I tried to set a higher resolution, 1920 x 1080 will work for me, but i can only set 4:3 resolutions like: 1600x1200, 1280x1024 ...

i worked complete with this guide viewtopic.php?f=32&t=638.

After i saw, that i can't change the resolution to 1920x1080, i tried this guide:
viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1100

but i coulnt open the console with my tilde key. (qwertz keyboard, but i know where ~key is).

Hope some1 can help me >_<

Hey,

I guess you are using multiple monitors right ?
The problem is that the vanilla client takes the maximum resolution available for your smaller monitor as the maximum resolution for WoW.
I tried everything, even with the console, it didnt work. (Btw to open the console, try : /script SetConsoleKey("F7"); then with F7 you will be able to open it, it's written in comment on the thread viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1100, page 1).

BUT I've found a solution to this.
I used the configuration pannel of my graphic card (ATI) to manually add resolution.
I finally could "fake" that my lower screen could handle the resolution of my main monitor.

It's the solution : if Windows thinks your smaller monitor can use the 1920x1080 resolution, the WoW client will propose the same resolution.

Example for me :

I have 2 monitors, my main is in 1920x1080 and the second in 1650x1050.
So the Vanilla client only proposed the 1650x1050 resolution as max (even in optimized windowed mode, it wasnt a real 1920x1080 so it's not a real solution).
I just added manually (with the ATI control pannel, it's hard to do btw) the 1920x1080 resolution for the smaller monitor. Just ADDED, but not using it because it can't handle it (In Windows I can now choose 1920x1080, but still using the right resolution, 1650x1050).
With this trick the Vanilla client also thinks that my smaller monitor can handle 1920x1080, and I can use this resolution for WoW now.

I'm sorry for my english, it's kinda hard to explain coz it's not my main language, hope you'll still understand what I mean...

I've been struggling with this a lot too. Kind of driving me nuts lol. I really want to play widescreen!

I have a GTX 650 with fully updated drivers.

I want to play at my monitors native resolution (1680x1050) but I only get 4 4:3 options to choose from in-game.

I've tried editing the WTF file but whenever I do it will automatically go to 800x600 instead, and no amount of tinkering around with running as administrator or making it read-only seems to work to save it.

I do use two monitors usually, but unplugging the second one, and/or disabling it does nothing as well.

I also tried the suggestion from the person above me and forced a custom resolution of 1680x1050 onto my second smaller monitor through the NVIDIA control panel. But that also has done nothing.

I might have to just give up and play 4:3 because after scouring the internet all day I haven't found a solution yet lol. Apparently it's pretty frequent with GTX 6XX GPU's though, so I might just be out of luck. But if anyone has found a solution that doesn't require me to use an entirely different graphics card I would love to hear it! haha

Hey guys, I have exciting news for anyone who's had this problem. After months of tinkering I finally figured it out!

It isn't an issue with multi monitors, or anything else people have thought in the past. It's purely an issue with Windows 8 not properly recognizing the GTX 6XX GPU's.

Basically all you have to do is go enter your BIOS and disable secure boot and enable legacy devices. Depending on your PC's manufacturer, these steps can be a bit different (since different motherboards would have different BIOS). So it may require a bit of extra tinkering and investigation on your part, but in essence this is the fix.

I beleive I'm the first person to actually post a real fix for this problem so far, since I pretty much scoured the internet already in search of a fix for myself. Hope it helps!

Hey, thanks for the infos, but you're not the first person to post a fix lol, my fix worked for me.
It's just that every problem is different, so there are multiples fixes...

And mine concerns the multiples monitors for sure (the proof is that I wasn't on Windows 8 and do not have nVidia gpu...)

And btw it's not like a race of who's gonna find first the solution, it seems like you want a medal for this :o

Sorry for the offtopic, but my question is "same" than this 4:3 problems

Anyone can say me if it's possible to run in a 16:9 resolution in a 4:3 monitor?

It will be as a panoramic movie in a 4:3 monitor, you guys understand?

Thanks all and sorry again if i bother.
