PowerPC bug

This is a problem with -literally- every single vanilla server ive ever tried. It's a stock bug with mangos, that both nost and kronos still carry. (burning crusade and lich king servers don't have this problem)

Basically, realmd sends incorrect data back to the powerpc client and causes it to crash when logging onto the game server.

I'd love to play on my old mac, the same one I used "back in the day." I've tried fresh installs of enUS and enGB from the game disks, neither combination works.

Error is "Assertion: Improper header received" on "Retrieving character list"

Has anyone been able to get around this? If I were to fix the bug myself in a fork of stock mangos-zero, how possible would it be to have a nost developer review the code?

Others with the issue:

After doing some research
it seems to be a bug in the stock mangos-zero warden implementation. It's not properly coded to work with powerpc clients aswell. Again I can attempt to get a fix pulled into stock mangos-zero but it would be great to get a dev response on this, this issue doesn't fit the bugtracker well.

I hate doing this, but bump

Would love to get a response on this, it's such a shame I can't use my powermac to play the game.

Is this bug fixed in some forked repository? You could simply link commit which fixes it.

Why don't you just upgrade to a modern Mac?

4K or gtfo :P

I have a fully kitted out MacPro with Samsung 4K monitor:

Mac Pro (Late 2013)
2.7 GHz 12-Core Intel Xeon E5
64 GB 1866 MHz DDR3 ECC
AMD FirePro D700 6144 MB

You forgot the $800 aluminum case with an apple on it.

OK so I understand Nostalgia, but - PowerPC Mac? really?
You can get something that will run WoW for under 1k these days.

I'm commenting here as a pure Mac user. 27" 2010 iMac, and late 2013 PowerBook Pro here. Both work beautifully. Except of course for boats and zeppelins, but that's a common issue on every private server.

Is that the cylindrical Mac Pro? /lust
I'm saving up for that for my next upgrade.
