This whole mining fiasco

Hey guys, this is just my two cents

500 times a week - 70 a day - 2.9 an hour. basically what people are being banned for is doing a circuit around places to mine?

Currently I'm worried to skin too many mobs in case it's exploiting, or even play my mage and herb incase sungrass is now bannable

more transparency from GM's about what is bugged would be better

You say that people should message a GM to ask if something is allowed? Most people will not do that. They assume that things are fixed. Especially mining nodes.

additional to that not everyone experienced retail vanilla, so how are they supposed to know if something is bugged or not (my case), you cant expect from the playerbase to ask if its okay by every move they make. all you cause is an unsecure playerbase that cant really enjoy the game because we always have to keep in mind something could be bugged without knowing it and GM´s will strike soon on you for that, i know you dont really care about that few people because most of the playerbase is still in leveling progress and you can easily cut these people out, but you cant simply bann people without any warning or hint, that just brings a bad image to teh nost staff. kkthxbye

No, they were mining EACH NODE way over 500 times per week. (That would require a respawn time of less than 20 minutes but as Daemon said, the issue wasn't the respawn time).

If you kill a mob, skin it and receive a rugged hide but the corpse doesn't disappear and you can skin it again and receive 5 rugged leather but the corpse still doesn't disappear. So then you decide to just stand there looting this corpse until your bags are full, then do it again tomorrow, and the day after that.

That is something you can get banned for and pretty much equivalent to what these people were doing with mining.

Everyone is massively over reacting.

Edit: Note that with a respawn time of 20 minutes, you would have to play 24/7 for a week to mine a single node 500 times or more. Assuming that these players were only doing it for 16 hours a day or less you are looking at mining a single node every 13 minutes, probably more like every 5 minutes. Combined with that, Daemon said that they weren't banned because of the respawn time on the nodes. There is no way these players were doing it "accidentally".

They didn't accidentally stumble upon an endless pot of gold. They stumbled upon a method to cause a small pot of gold to instead be endless. This is not something that happens by accident.

typical shitter abusers trying to shift the blame from their obvious exploit into lynching the devs ))

Just want to clear up the confusion as to how the nodes worked "pre-fix".

Silithus has 3 different hives. Every hive has 3 different caves. As far as I know the amount of veins were this.

Hive'Regal (southern hive): 6 different veins, 2 in each cave. Most of them guarded by level 60-61 elite mobs.
Hive'Ashi (northern hive): 13 different veins, most of which were not guarded by any mobs This was the place in which most of us were farming.
Hive'Zora (western hive): 9 different veins, some guarded, some not.
(note: you could not get to these veins without killing elite mobs if you did not have stealth, however with certain gear you could easely kill these mobs as a mage or warrior(monkeynews).)

Each of these veins had their own 45-minute reset so if you went there and started mining all these nodes, you could do it in that pattern every 45 minutes.

This is exactly how it worked. Not 20 min re spawn, not 5, 45. Insane how people just jump the wagon to believe we all 100% knowingly exploited a bug. I had no fucking idea it were not supposed to be like that since I always heard these stories about hunters/mages making insane amounts of gold in DM etc. Furthermore the biggest reason as to why I believed that the spawns were not bugged was because they were Ooze covered veins inside cave and I know that veins inside caves usually dont work exactly the same way as veins out in the open world.

will this issue never die?

the people who got banned exploited a bug and were banned. Obviously they are not banning people for farming nodes in sithilus, since they only banned 5 people. If just making a circuit around these nodes for a few hours got you banned, there would be hundreds of people banned for it every month.

They cheated, and got what they deserved. Make a new account, and respect the rules.

This. The admins haven't been clear about what happened, but they have posted that it wasn't due to the respawn of the nodes.
