Issue with AddOns

by Glenzig » Thu Oct 01, 2015 2:46 pm

I was wondering if anyone could help me with a small problem I'm having. I downloaded a few simple addons that I liked the look of. However, I can't seem to get them up and running. I extracted them and put them in the correct file location as far as I can tell from all the tutorials I've seen. Nostalrius->Interface->AddOns.
But I still have no way of making them active ingame. I don't have the AddOns button at character select, and I have tried to use the command prompts ingame, but they aren't working either. I've spent the last 2 days researching and trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong, but haven't found an answer that has worked yet.

Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure it's a simple oversight on my part somewhere.

Greetings,

make sure that the name of the folder that the addon is matches what the .toc file says. For example, when downloading from GitHub, the folder name includes "-master" which you need to manually delete from the name to make WoW pick it up. Also make sure that you have ticked "load out of date addons" box.

Ok, I will have to take a look at the file names when I get home tonight. I had not seen that suggestion yet. The "load out of date addons" box, is that an option given through the AddOns button at character select?
Thank you Pottu.

Well, none of that seems to be the issue. Still can't get them working.

If you don't have addons button, this means you are missing addons folder.

Open your wow installation folder, there should be folder named Interface and inside it there should be folder named AddOns. If any of them are missing, create them.

Inside this AddOns folder you put addons, in a way that .toc file is in subdirectory of the same name, like this
<WoW_FOLDER>/Interface/AddOns/Prat/Prat.toc (Prat is addon name in this example).

The AddOns folder is there. The .toc file names match, as Pottu pointed out. I don't have any additional unzipped folders in the AddOns folder. The name of the AddOns folder is spelled correctly. As far as I have seen from my research, I have the files installed correctly. Pathway seems to be correct. Nostalrius\Interface\AddOns\Onebag for example.
But I still can't seem to get them active, or even get my AddOns button to show at character select.

If you're using onebag, it should be like this: <directory with wow.exe>\Interface\AddOns\OneBag\OneBag.toc
