Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hi, new to the server. I created my first character, logged in, and though it tells me that I joined 1. General, when I try to type in gen, I get "you cannot use this channel yet".

Not able to whisper anyone either, get the same message. Am only able to type via /say.

Disabled addons. Relogged, quit the game, relaunched, still not able to chat. Left the channel and rejoined the channel, still can't chat.

I'll update my own post for others who may have the same issue - I restarted again and am able to whisper someone who told me I'm not able to chat in General until level 5. If this is true, would be helpful to post somewhere. Thanks!

Yes it is set at level 5 to demoralize gold sellers.

It is incredibly common on most private servers to have a level restriction on chat, even in retail if you are on a trial account you can use certain chat channels. Some people even want the level increased to 10, rather than 5 to further prevent spam.

actually they should make it at level 20 to be truth because im sick of these seller guys spamming in general at lvl 5, they now use other tactics like whispers and roaming while walking into the cities, and spamming via /say or yell endlessly and ofc they set up DND.
