Multiboxing Question

Since it's not outlined in the rules-

Is it illegal to multibox two *different faction* characters, while still remaining within the legal area for multiboxing ? (just staying in town and doing banking/professions)

Furthermore, is it illegal to chat with other players on the multiboxed opposite-faction character?

There's nothing about this in the Terms of Use, so...if it's not allowed, you should really update it to reflect that.

He's asking the question because the TOS can be interpreted multiple ways.

Viper wrote:Clarification on multiboxing

Multiboxing refers to playing multiple separate characters simultaneously. This can either be achieved by using multiple separate machines to run the game or by running multiple separate instances of the game. It is against the rules to /follow level characters, run dungeons or raids with multiple characters, PvP with multiple characters, etc. There are only a few situations where multiboxing is allowed in Nostalrius, e.g.:

Trading items between accounts.
Professions, as long as no farming is involved;
i.e. You can have two characters ingame simultaneously for crafting, enchanting, or trading purposes.

Interpretation 1: Player boxes an alt in opposite faction major city, and their main doing normal stuff. They do not interact in any way.
- They are not /follow levelling.
- They are not running dungeons or raids with each other.
- They are not PVPing with multiple characters.
- Key: The few cases explicitly specified is a non-complete list. That is, professions, trading, crafting, enchanting is a subset of what is allowed.
Conclusion: Great! It's allowed. Since chatting is not prohibited.

Interpretation 2: Same scenario.
- Key: The few cases explicitly specified is a complete list, nothing else is allowed.
Conclusion: Bummer, it's not allowed. And neither is any other activity, such as chatting, checking the AH while levelling, testing that an addon works, or anything else.

So that's the reason for the question. I >think< you are using Interpretation 2, either that or considering PVPing on one char while the other is sitting idle as "PVPing with multiple characters" from the context of the response.

Why woould you even want to do this?

You could use it as a spy to locate the other factions where abouts to harass them.

I dont think it should be allowed to be honest.

They should just simplify the whole 2 accounts issue by making it against the rules to do it in any situation. Is there anything that you can't just mail to an alt that you would be able to trade?

I agree with both Bleachy and Glenzig here. I don't personally do this or even want to.
But what milk is asking is a valid question, as it doesn't seem to be prohibited, unless you take a particular interpretation of the rules.

It should just be flatly stated that cross-faction spying is disallowed.

I don't see anything regarding the use of chat on a multiboxed opposite-faction character. That's why I'm asking for clarification. :?

What exactly is "cross-faction spying" anyways? If you were to have a level 1 opposite-faction alt, the most you could do is..."spy" on what zone a person is in? You can't exactly do very much with that information, and if you tried to target someone and gank them, you'd most likely get banned for excessive ganking/griefing after a few times doing it.

Corpse camping is allowed here. It happened to me and it still happens. One person has enough time on their hands to run around on their epic mount and make a macro to /target me until they find me. It's incredibly childish, but people do that. Lets say you want to fly somewhere, that person could get there before you and wait for you to land so they can kill you over and over.

I meant *excessive* corpse camping. Like, corpse camping someone for days/weeks on end.

I don't see how one would possibly do that, without having some external information on you, such as watching you through a livestream or something.

It doesn't matter how much they corpse camp you, it is allowed. If you would have noticed I said the same thing has happened to me, for over a month. Lets say i'm flying to Booty Bay, there are no stops in STV once you reach Duskwood. Said player sees you go from elwynn, to duskwood and then into STV. Where would they assume you're going so quickly? Booty Bay. So they get to Booty Bay before you can land and wait at the flight master for you. Take in to account that rarely a higher level character ventures into a lower level zone, so its easy to see that someone is flying to a certain position, like WPL for instance. Hearth to UC and wait at the flight master in WPL.
