HELP ME!!

So my friend refered me to this PServer and I decided to give it a shot. SO basically I just downloaded the game followed the directions and everything then I created the shortcut to the game clicked on the short cut and it just takes me to a black screen then goes back to my desktop. But it leaves the icon on my task bar. I click on the icon in my task bar and it just does the same thing. Makes my screen black and then takes me back to my desktop. What do I do? ive tried reinstalling it and I created my account I really wanted to play but as of now spending 2 hours trying to get this to work this is my last hope
