Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

I've been wondering if you're allowed to farm these solo in a legit way, say as a rogue stealthing through the instance, are you doing anything wrong by doing this? If so, wasn't this a place regularly farmed in retail back in the days?
