My rogue's name was previously Adolfcritler and when reporting someone to a GM, he informed me my name breached the terms of service and would need to be changed. He then disconnected me and sure enough I had to change it.

I changed it to Staßulous, but I just want some clarification here, because I read through the ToS and at best this is a borderline case in my opinion. Historical figures are not forbidden from use. I'm not stupid, I understand why this would get a second look by a GM, but on a server where a guild called "Come on my Crits" exists without intervention I find this a little draconian. Ideally I'd like my old name back.

The "but look at that name" defense is horrible.

Did you even report their name? If not, you have zero basis for your claim that it is left without intervention, since all intervention is preceded by player reports.

Their guildname, while I wouldn't consider reporting it myself, is quite clearly against the naming policy. Yours clearly was too. The iron clad case is that it is political since it refered to the leader of probably the most infamous political party in history. But you could really take your pick among many of the other categories as well.

You just have to realize that if you're going to go with an edgy name, you will have a high chance of losing that name at some point.
