Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

Hi,

I was recently having some issues with my client. 1) I could not install any new addons, though my old ones worked fine. 2) The tooltips for my items never updated when they did, for example, my Wrath pants were still showing 1% dodge, 7 FR, etc.

On the recommendation of a guildmate, I deleted my WDB folder, but that did not solve either issue. I reinstalled the client, and now my items have updated (yay!) but now I cannot install any addons.

My addons are showing up in my Interface > AddOns folder, along with the standard blizzard addons (auctionUI, battlefieldminimap, etc.) but they do not show up in game, and there is no addons button in the corner of my character screen.

I have raids tomorrow night, and would love to have my addons for them, particularly KTM since I'm a tank.

Please help.

*edit* Potentially related(?) minor issue: My game no longer goes directly to the character screen, instead it goes to the suggest realm screen every time I log in.

**edit** Could this have something to do with installing windows 10? It might have been since I upgraded that I can't install new addons.

Are you sure the addons you have are the correct ones for the client/patch?
Did you install a new one that might be messing with them?
Try deleting and reinstalling into your addons folder.
Other than that, I don't know. Good luck

yeah, I'm sure they're current. the only ones I have right now are ones I've downloaded since my reinstall about an hour ago, and I've only tried 2, so there's no old ones interfering.

Can you post a screenshot of your addons folder?

Have you tested with a well known addon like DamageMeters or xperl to see if they make the addon button show up?

Also you said you just upgraded to windows 10, can you go into the interface folder and right click on addons, and go to properties, and then security, and make sure your account has full read and write access?

I think you're on to something here. All of my folders seem to be set to read only. But when I uncheck the read only setting and apply the changes, they don't stick. When I open the properties again it's still checked as read only. Do you know what could cause that? I'll investigate it further myself tomorrow, but I have to get to bed for the night. Thank you for your help.

Open the start menu and search for "windows explorer" and right-click and choose run as administrator. Then navigate to your wow folder inside of that.

It may be possible that you need to change the entire vanilla wow folder for write permission.

The changes should apply after that.

Can you let me know if any of these suggestions work? I've been having the same issue with addons since I started. Haven't found a solution yet.

Windows explorer is called "file Explorer" in windows 10, but regardless, it does not have a "run as administrator" option on right click. I have tried sharing the files with all CPU users, giving all users full access, for the entire WoW folder. Still nothing on log in.

Also, I downloaded the Nostalrius addons pack, so I know I have some commonly used addons installed, but there is still no addons button on my character screen.
