Game fail to start - 3D acceleration error.

So i've been playing for a while here and never any problems. Today I logged in and the game instantly goes not-responding. Then a dialog box pops up with an error saying the 3D acceleration failed to start, something about direct x.

All my drivers are up to date and I have DirectX 11 installed, game was working flawlessly previously. Tried deleting WDB folder.

Any help would be great! Thanks.

If you do a general web search with ...World of warcraft was unable to start up 3D acceleration....you will find a lot of results. Someone could write a book just on nvidia cards and WoW. If you search through all the hits you'll fnd everything from simple fixes to highly technical and time intensive suggestions.

I would start with throwing away the WTF folder, to get a clean copy of the confg file (or just the config file). There are some Nvidia specific suggestions in my stickied connections thread...around #10 and #11. Outside of that, I can't offer anything other than the basic web search.

Hey thanks for your reply, could you send me a link please? I had a look but can't seem to find it. I'll try throwing the config file when I get home. If I delete he whole wtf folder I'll lose all key binds and addon settings right?

Yes you would lose all setting by throwing away the WTF folder. you don't need a link for the thread I'm referring to; it's near the top of this sub forum. the "read before you post" thread.

I read your post and tried a couple of the nvidia solutions to no avail. I'm running a Radeon graphics card on Windows 8.1 if that makes any difference. I'm at a loss.

Although a majoirty of web results from searching the error message will result in a Nvidia card issue, I'm gonna guess most of the solutions will work on any video card. I think you're going to have to go ahead and do that general search and start digging through the info. Good luck. : )
