The first time I was still in Coldridge Valley, completed the quest to retrieve the journal from Grik'nir with help from another dwarf, ran back to the trainer and trained, accepted the two quests on the way out of the valley, and picked some pockets of those gross guys in the tunnel out. One of the last ones caught me, so I just started to run, hoping to lose them and exit combat. I realized about halfway to Kharanos that my connection was funky, so i tried to log out. When I could not, I had to window out and close the game from the taskbar. When I was finally able to log back in, about 30 minutes later, I was back in the cave where Grik'nir resides and had NOT completed the quest at all.
The second time was after I said "the hell with this" after getting killed in the troll cave trying to retrieve the journal yet again. I rezzed at the Spirit Healer, abandoned the quest for the journal, ran to the trainer in Coldridge, trained and ran to pick up the quest to deliver goods to the inn in Kharanos. I once again stealthed through the tunnel to reach Dun Morogh, picking pockets along the way. When one of the troggs saw me, I again ran to exit combat, doing so just outside of the tunnel. I made my way to Kharanos, picked up the available quests, completed the bringing the goods to the inn quest and began to make my way around gathering Crag Boar Ribs. Yum. I also gathered the quests at Steelgrill's Depot. I quested for about half an hour to get ribs, meat and bear furs in the area between Steelgrill's and Kharanos Inn. Once again while questing, I realized that my connection was wonky, and had to close the game from the taskbar. When I was able to log back in, probably 15-20 minutes later, my character was standing outside the Inn in Kharanos, as though I had just arrived. I had not completed the deliver the goods quest, and had not picked up the available quests in the town, save for the crag boar ribs quest.
Is this common? I'm not used to having a bunch of time invested tossed out randomly. I realize it's a level 5 toon, but time is time, and I don't get to have a lot of play time that is uninterrupted... I have 3 teens, a toddler and I'm pregnant. :O
