Don't really know about those programs but you can download smc fan control, just google it download and put them cooling your mac with highest rpm possible should help a bit at least.

literally type your topic title into google and you'll get a bunch of answers.

This shit does not belong under General Discussion.

Get a can of compressed air and clean out the inside of your computer. Make sure the fans are actually moving air in or out of the case.

Download some sort of fan monitoring program (smc fan control is one, there are many others) and make sure your fans are running, adjust speeds if necessary.

To limit your FPS enable Vsync and lower your refresh rate (both done in-game). Your FPS will be limited to that refresh rate.

How this 12 year old MMO is overheating your computer is beyond me. If you posted some actual information about your problem / computer specs / where you are stuck people might be more inclined to try and help you.

Got a boat? If so, use the Mac as an anchor. It is about all it is good for.

Turning V-sync on will cap your FPS to your display's refresh rate (most likely 60)
However if you'd like to limit your CPU just go to Control Panel -> Energy saving options (it's equivalent on MacOS) and play with the settings.
Also cleaning the laptop helps a lot. (with compressed air)
