What exactly is going on here?

by Kpamo » Sun Feb 07, 2016 7:04 pm

Hello Gamesmasters of Nostalrius,

I'm writing this post because i stumbled upon something while watching a youtube video.

I was watching a BWL run, done by NOPE, on nostalrius PVP. When i noticed something peculiar.

Here is the link to the video (time stamped at the correct time): https://youtu.be/MoFvPjSNp2c?t=19m30s

Notice at around 19:30 they kill broodlord, with the standard loottable. Nothing out of the ordinary. However, at 20.00 you will see "monkeynews" (the video owner) click an item that is presumably being looted, showing us "Head of the Broodlord Lashlayer". I didn't think too much about it first time i watched, but it got me thinking today.

You are not supposed to be able to be on that part of the quest, to obtain that head, and neither are you supposed to be able to even VIEW it in-game. I have tried quereing the server via atlas loot, and importing it from db.vanillagaming.org - sure, it shows up as epic, but its UNCLICKABLE!

How does he click this item? why is it in the game? Is the some sort of NOPE shit going on?

This video was uploaded a few months after BWL was released, so i doubt it was a serverside "bug".

I know that the lootwindow did not show the head, BUT it is a quest item, so obviously it is only the person who is on the quest, that can see it.

My question is, is there someone from NOPE who got far enough in that chain quest, that was causing the server to crash repeatedly, that looted this item after the storm passed?

I have been around this guild before, and suspicious shit is always happening whereever they go.

Any answers to my pondering would be greatly appreciated.

The quest was available by mistake for like 1 day. My guess is that they're still holding it in their quest log.

If this is the case, there should be clear reprocussions. When the "node bug explots" were going on, people were permanently banned if they did not delete the aquired items from their bags.

This is exactly the same thing. they obtained a quest, and did not drop if afterwards. Thus "keeping" the "materials" aquired during a bug.

Sounds like abusing bugs to get ahead on the AQ chain to me.

My thoughts exactly. I was reading the 27 page thread about them using azuregos bots, to get all the kills, when it hit me i had seen something in a youtube video.

Lets see if they take the video down when they notice this post. Wouldnt matter anyway

Granted, it's actually a pretty negligible advantage, as the real grind doesn't begin until you turn the head in and get the "Agent of Nozdormu" item, which enables the collection of the Silithid Carapace Fragments, which is probably the hardest part of the chain due to the sheer amount of bug hive grinding needed.

If the followup for the Broodlord head quest is in the game, we have a problem.

I dont really care what small or large advantage they gain from it, its still clear bug abuse. And im yet to see anyone from these guilds actually getting banned for shit like this. While our raidleader has had both his accounts banned for "multiboxing" - cause of the retarded logout timer when you alt f4 and switch character.

Examining the video closely, it could be someone linking the item in chat, not from the boss. If this is the case, it most likely shouldn't be clickable. It's good enough evidence to warrant investigation, but it's not explicitly damning.

The item is only linkable ingame, via an external ingame link. e.g. db.vanillagaming.org - however its still not clickable in this case.

The item was in-game for 1 day, accidentally. The item was removed completely from inventories and drop tables and all quest progression associated was reset as well. No one has received any sanctions nor any benefit from this.
