Strange Fps Interaction

normally my fps is capped at 101.4 and there is nothing I can do about that.
However when I open a browser window and open a website with video elements (like a stream or youtube) and open wow while the browser window is still open, my fps uncaps and I get 300 fps+.
Does anyone have an explanation for that and can provide a solution to get an uncapped fps without having to use my internet browser to achieve that?
