[Huge Bug] Reputation gains deficient

I have been getting incredibly low reputation gains normally provided when completing quests associated with faction NPCs. Quests that are intended to award as much as 350 reputations points are actually giving less than 100 - e.g. Iverron's Antidote, Wanted: "Hogger".

Additionally, when a quest NPC awards reputation and is part of an alliance (e.g. Orgimmar-Horde, Darnassus-Alliance, Everlook-Steamwheedle Cartel), 25-50% additional rep is granted for other factions of that alliance. Currently this element of rep gains isn't in effect at all.

These broken rep rates make it very difficult for players to enjoy much-needed discounts on riding training, class training, reagents, recipes, auction house fees, and other supplies provided by the various factions, as well as making it almost impossible to obtain vendor mounts not native to their race.

im pretty sure i remember the value of the quests rewards such as rep going down so you cant just go back and farm all the rep like that once your 60, thats why people would have to donate so much runecloth to get rep or do AV its EZ rep dude big time

Even if that were true, the minor rep grants for associated factions is non-existant right now which means this is still a [huge game-breaking bug] and no one in their right mind would play on a classic server with broken rep.

as a formula
Let LE be the level of the Quest or NPC in question
Let LG be the level a NPC, Quest, Hostile player turns grey given the players current level
Let RG be the percentage of the normally gained reputation

RG = max{100-(LG+1-LE)*20 , 20} for LE<LG
RG = 100 for LE>LG

When you are high level, you should gain less reputation for killing a low level mob or completing a low level quest.
The reputation gained gets reduced for every level you are above the "grey level" of the quest/mob by 20%.

Example: mob X gives 10 reputation.

Mob X is green, you kill it, you gain 10 reputation per kill of mob X (100%)
Now you level up, mob X turns gray, you gain 8 reputation per kill of mob X (80%)
You level up again, you gain 6 reputation per kill of mob X (60%)
You level up yet again, you gain 4 reputation per kill of mob X (40%)
You level up another time, you gain 2 reputation per kill of mob X (20%)

---

The same should apply for quests, when you are high level (60) and you complete a low level quest (5), you gain less reputation.
Example is copied from wowwiki, I believe the quest in question is http://www.wowhead.com/quest=3792/morro ... stronghold

Gives 25 reputation if you complete it at level 55 or lower (100%).
Gives only 20 reputation if you complete it at level 56 (80%).
Gives only 15 reputation if you complete it at level 57 (60%).
Gives only 10 reputation if you complete it at level 58 (40%).
Gives only 5 reputation if you complete it at level 59 or higher (20%).

Be that as it may... from http://www.wowwiki.com/Reputation

"Most quests for an Alliance or Horde faction will give full reputation gain for that faction, and one quarter of that reputation gain for the other factions on that side. For example, a quest completed for a Stormwind NPC will give 250 Stormwind reputation and 62.5 reputation for the other Alliance factions."

For the record, my one and only character is a level 13 priest that quested all of Elwynn and recently about half of Teldrassil. Not a single quest so far has awarded the alliance-factions rep gains, whether I did the quests at level or not. This has resulted in a net loss of hundreds if not thousands of reputation points and I personally can't bring myself to continue playing until it's fixed.

This feature is working, it just doesn't apply to ALL quests. Only a portion of them, usually in higher level areas.

Both issues you mentionned seem fine to me, just don't expect to gain reputation with Gnomeregan, Ironforge & Darnassus in addition to Stormwind when completing a crappy quest in Goldshire ;)

'Seemed fine to me' ... 'A crappy quest in Goldshire' ... Really? I would appreciate it if the ignorant dweebs would refrain from preaching denial of a serious bug or the 'devs' might never get around to fixing it. Also, FYI a level 10 quest for a level 10 character is not somehow less important than a level 60 quest. In fact leveling characters stand to benefit the most from a fully functional reputation system for all the reasons I listed above (and conversely the most to lose) so please keep your crappy opinions to yourself.

matteria,

I remained kind and polite in my post, please do the same, I don't think I insulted you in any way.

As I was saying, the two issues you brought up in this thread seem fine to me :
- Reduced reputation gains for grey quest are a Blizz-like mechanism, as stated above ;

- I completed dozens of quests granting reputation to 3 of the faction reputations in addition to another one. I just didn't see it for every single quest, and especially not in the first levels.
I found no evidence saying that this mechanism should apply to 100% of the quests, and neither does your wowwiki quote (which is definitely NOT a reliable source for Vanilla content btw), hence my "it seems fine for me" : it wasn't an opinion, just facts I saw here on the server : it seems fine because a significant proportion of quests works this way past levels 15-20, depending on the levelling zone.

Have a nice day.
