Items disappearing after DC

I was just disconnected from the game while trying to equip my 1handed axe/shield and when I reconnected the items have now disappeared from my inventory. I still have their icons on my action bar but they are greyed out, and the items are not in my bank or in the mail.
What should I do?

I've heard of this happening with other players - some of them said that the items in question were returned to them by GM's through the mail.

I know it is possible to do as it happened on this server and on the retail servers.

It also appears items vanishing from bags IS a known issue but the GM's for whatever reason do not wish to do anything about it (shot on staff being a reason I'd guess) but it is quite up setting that we are left with no recourse if items genuinely vanish from our inventory.

So this is the second time its happened to me where quest items randomly vanish from my inventory. The first one was the quest in searing gorge where you get the torch to burn the towers. Went to bed b4 I did it, logged on next day and no torch.. no way to reacquire. Second time is the Aquementas quest which you may kno is very long chain which is why this frustrates me. You get a bag containing the Items that you gathered in the previous quest plus a summoning item all in a container. I log on today and the bag has 2/3 items. No way to get the item to continue.

The GM response highlights the fact that items vanishing, at least in SOME cases is a known fact. If they can vanish in one instance after logging out, there is no reason to doubt they can vanish after a DC.

You can wait near the torch for someone else to do the quest and you are able to loot a new one, as for Aquementas it is a known bug, already on the bug tracker. You can open an in-game ticket and address it to me to get assistance with that.

Aquamentas quest bug has been fixed months ago, it wasn't a general "items vanish" bug.
