Enigneering [Evil soothsaying for dummies] Bug

The book next to the gnome in the shack north of Steamwheedle Port is not working, its suppose to unlearn your Gnomish or Goblin Engineering choice(allowing you to go the opposite.)
I've already tried avoiding this by dropping engineering and leveling it again, when i reached 175 or 200 i automatically gained Goblin Engineer. QQ
I've made a terrible mistake and I wish to join the gnomes >.< I do recall this book being in the game from the very early. 8D

In vanilla WoW you couldn't unlearn specializations. Once you chose a specialization, your character was stuck with it forever.

I remember this being in the game for engineers, and yes you could unlearn your specializations in vanilla.

The earliest source I could find on Soothsaying for Dummies is from april 2007, which is 3 months after TBC released.

However, in the 1.10 patchnotes under Professions:

Blizzard Entertainment wrote:Players that unlearn Engineering or Leatherworking may now respecialize if they decide to relearn the professions.

The Wowwiki engineering guide sais:

Since patch 1.10, it has been possible to switch engineering specializations. It is, however, painful. To switch from gnomish to goblin or vice versa
  1. Press K to bring up your skills tab, click on engineering, and then click an icon that looks like a circle with a slash through it to un-learn engineering entirely.
  2. Visit an engineering trainer and start all over again at level 1
  3. Level your skill to 225
  4. Visit Narain Soothfancy's house North of Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris, and read Soothsaying for Dummies.
  5. Select a new Engineering Specialization (or your old one if you had a change of heart)

Not sure if the Wowwiki information is entirely correct, but at least we know you can change specs if you want to.

Maktaz, your source is still from 1.10. Server is pre-1.4 (with the exception of class talents).
