Chat messages won't go through.

I hit level 5 and am only sometimes able to chat. I try to ask in general for active Guilds and my messages never pop up. Same for when I ask for groups in /say for Quests. Is it a lag issue? Occasionally it'll go through but I can barely have any real conversations. I don't spam the chat either so it's not like I'm sending 5 messages at a time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and I've never had this issue before. It's both on my Alliance and Horde characters. Sometimes I have to log out and back in to chat.

It's not recommended to use any public chat at all before lvl 15 as you can very easy get auto-banned for spamming. Characters under lvl 15 are heavily restricted in using public chats. When you reach lvl 15 you should be able to use the chats like normal.

Does it say anywhere specifically what my limitations are? I haven't spammed anything, ever. Just one message asking for a Guild every now and then. I'm mostly bothered by not being able to ask for an invite for Quests

No specific info is given about the auto-detect spam system other than that it's very sensitive and many players accidentally get banned under lvl 15 (you will get unbanned after an appeal but it takes some days).

There are restrictions on chat in place on characters below level 15. Once you reach that level, they are nearly all released. This is in place in order to combat the gold advertisers that continually plague the server.

Note that as other players have said, it's actually possible to accidentally get your account banned by using the public chat channels on low level characters. If this happens. please make forum post in the Account Issues forum and we will review the ban (and most likely unban you.)

Thanks, I appreciate it! I've found a Guild and I'm using that as my main source of chatting. Thank you for the heads up ^_^
