Ban Appeal (probably in vain) and PSA on buying gold

I was banned for buying gold.

Yes I did indeed buy the gold. Im not going to make this another "my friend gave me that money because I lent it to him" or "an epic dropped in a group and the leader sold it and gave me that gold as the profit" because I am not a liar. I knew what I was doing and that it was technically against the rules, but it seemed to me like everyone was doing it. Every 10 minutes Id get messaged by a goldseller or see someone selling it openly in cities. I honestly didnt think it was something that was heavily enforced, but boy I was very wrong.

I bought gold ONCE, in the amount of 1000g. I had it traded directly to me, THAT is how confident (see: stupid) I was that it didnt get enforced. One week later I was banned. So good job on that GMs, doing your job, in fact doing it better than the retail GMs l0l.

I understand that it destroys the economy, and I understand that as a customer I directly contributed to the %$*!storm of chinese goldsellers on the server. I legitimately feel bad about that because when I started playing here that problem didnt so much exist.

But anyways now I am banned, and really sad about it, and mad at myself for it. I spent SO much time on this server, even when not leveling I was chilling in town talking to people, or just exploring. In the last 3 months I logged 25 days played....I recently moved to a new state so Im an absolute no-lifer. I had no reason to buy gold with the amount I played but I did it anyways because I was dumb and lazy. I really just cant believe I risked all that time I invested into this game on one small purchase of gold, but I regrettably did.


I know this is probably all in vain, and Im really posting this partially just so people can read it and see that you SHOULDNT buy gold and that they DO take it seriously. It is not worth it!! People say "but its just pixels, it isnt real" yet the time I invested in my character was VERY real and I lost that and will NEVER get it back because I chose to buy gold. I literally just wasted 4 months of my life. Ridiculous....DO NOT BUY GOLD!! IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!! I cant even be mad at Nostalrius because I did it to myself...dont end up like me yall. And dont do drugs


IF anyone reading this IS considering unbanning me (if it even crossed your mind for 1 second), I have this suggestion: if you unban me, remove all the gold from my account, all the BOEs I bought with it, EVERYTHING. I just want my character back man...I spent so much time on it...

Never bought gold, but the first time I heard about it being a violation was on these forums. There is nothing but spam in major cities advertising it, and I get whispers constantly about buying it. I think Nost even sells it themselves? There should be more PSAs about this issue, because I bet many fall into this trap

I disagree. Its in the gray area, its more like J-Walking, getting caught and saying:
"Im sorry, I feel bad, I knew it was TECHNICALLY illegal but I see hundreds of people do it everyday, sometimes even in front of authority, and not get arrested. Now that Ive had time to reflect I realize how unsafe it is and how it negatively effects the flow of traffic, I realize how ill advised it was. However, instead of giving me the DEATH PENALTY for it (which is essentially what a perma ban is), how about you just give me a hefty fine and lessons learned?"

If I was going around hacking and deleting peoples accounts, THAT would be like murder. Not buying gold. That is arbitrary.

Especially because this problem in part exists because of the lack of a presence GMs have on this server.


They dont respond to tickets, etc, and rarely go on banning sprees, but when they do they ban like 800 players at a time unexpectedly.

I somewhat agree with you, to be honest. I think a permanent ban is a little harsh considering the fact you're losing money you worked for both in-game and out of the game. I think having the gold removed and a week suspension is fair -- of course, the GM's have the final say. Your best option is to remake your account and be a little smarter this time around. Buying gold isn't a big deal, it's your money you can do what you want with it...Just be smarter if you're going to. Hint: Don't buy off people advertising it!

I mean, I would do that as well when I volunteer for the GM Team.
