look i know nobody likes spam. This seems a little to harsh of a punishment for spam though... I can't gchat, whisper, or emote... I can't do anything that uses chat box. I can only communicate through mail or guild notes. At least restore my whisper privs and guild chat privs so the game is at least playable. I can't do shit in the game that requires a group. This punishment would be acceptable for /trade /gen and /world but everything? At least shorten the time to a couple hours and not 2days!!!

This was never supposed to last 4k minutes, but during yesterdays running back and forth trying to help everyone that was dying upon entering instances I had no time to stop and talk with a spammer and just threw a random number at this player. The mute was lifted after a couple hours, as per usual with first offenses. You WILL get 4k minutes if you do it again though.

Rules should be well established with what constitutes spam and other offenses with degrees of punishments. Unless of course the managers of this server prefer a wild wild west style of order, in which case, let the games begin.

I strongly disagree. Well established rules never work because people aren't stupid and find loop holes or ways around them. This leads to more complicated rules and it restricts GM's ability to make this an enjoyable place to play. If we were talking about IRL with punishments like jail time or death row, then yes, well established rules are a good thing. It's a private game server, if someone receives a slightly too-harsh punishment when they were obviously being a jackass, I don't think they deserve any sympathy.
