Annoying portrait bug

by CeilingCat » Mon Mar 30, 2015 3:56 am

Hey all. I just started playing on Nostalrius a couple days ago, but I noticed soon after I started playing that my portrait and my target's portrait are off-center most of the time:

I already tried reinstalling the client, but that didn't seem to fix anything. I'm really enjoying Nostalrius but this bug is taking away from the whole experience a bit. Is there any way to fix this?

Hi CeilingCat,

I don't have a definitive fix for you but I can help gather more information and narrow it down. It shouldn't be too difficult to fix thought since it was initially working. If all else fails than you could try a custom name plates addon in the interim such as LunaUnitFrames.

I'd start by disabling all Addons and deleting your WDB folder located in your WoW installation directory. If your installation directory is C:\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft Classic than also delete the WDB folder in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\World of Warcraft Classic.

You could also try to reinstall and preferably directly to the root directory (C:\World of Warcraft Classic) instead of in the Program Files folder to avoid permissions issues.

Hmmm. I deleted the WDB folder and restarted the game and it is still bugged. I currently have WoW installed on my D drive, but I can try reinstalling it to the root directory tomorrow if that might help. Other than that, I'm not sure what I can do to remedy this :(

Installing to the D Drive is fine. When you reinstall, backup your addons folder and delete the old WoW folder if it's still there before reinstalling. After reinstalling, check to see if it's fixed before replacing your addons.

Did you disable all addons?

This isn't a major issue and I'll do my best to help you though it so relax and enjoy the game. :D

I uninstalled the game and deleted all WoW-related folders. Then I reinstalled on the D drive again and the bug is still happening :\ I did manage to find a WoW folder from an old install and got rid of it, but it didn't seem to help. I don't currently have any add-ons, so that shouldn't be an issue. Anything else I could try?

I'm going to install Luna Unit Frames and see if it helps.
