a few weeks ago after a patch, after the restart, i have had very bad lag, with spikes from 5-30 seconds. here is what i did to try fix it
deleted cache
deleted WTF
deleted addons
deleted and re downloaded and reinstalled wow
virus scan, it picked up a few things with WOW in it so deleted them
upgraded my internet from 1.5mbps to 4mbps
i called my isp and told them about it and they said new internet wouldnt fix it it has to be the game/client/server
so here i am at 45 after smashing my head against the key board as a holy priest does, and for the past week and a bit i havent been able to do much, i can some times kill something, but mostly as soon as i fight something i just lag for 30 seconds and insta-die.
now i know its got nothing to do with my internet as im getting perfectly fine speeds, and out of wow i can play a HD movie with no lag, i even tried deleting every file in my wow folder it would let me while i had the game open including the background downloader application. still no sucess, if you guys cant help me.... who wants a free 45 alliance priest?

trading accounts is not allowed.

on a side and more serious note;

your ping ingame how is it during the lag spikes?

what you could do if you want.
if you are running a windows machine run WOW in windowed mode,
before starting wow right click on the taskbar and select "Task manager"
if you have a second screen put the task manager there.

during the lag spike im interested in the activity of the CPU / memory and HD, to see if they kind of stand out from the standard during wow.

as a system engineer it looks to me that there could be a problem with some of the hardware running end of life. however this is just a guess without any info to back it up.

can you inform me regarding your system the hardware specs
what operating system and when it was last (re)installed?

cpu and ram didnt seem to do anything abonormal both in and out of combat. my system far exceeds requirements for wow, especially vanilla, as for latency it says anywhere between 1k to 3k normally, although i took a screen shot with 8k
as for computer parts, AMD phenom II X6 1090T 3.2 GKz
2x 4gig ddr3 ram
navidia geforce gtx 560 Ti
and Windows 7 64bit, installed a year or so ago

i havent looked at updating my drivers though, i could try that
ps i was joking about giving my account away

Hey nebulae92,

Your in-game latency is abnormally high. What's your ping to Google?

well on speedtest.net if i pick a eu server it is about 300 which is normal as i am in australia and only like 50 to my own country. 300 ping in game was what i used to be on and thats perfectly playable

and your harddisk read/write during the lagspike?

what I sometimes see with systems is that the system can "lockup" for few seconds due to excessive read/write by the system.

and your ping is unplayable high... this could be related to the distance from you to the server and your below average internet connection.

can you do a ping to google.fr ?
to do so
press the keycombination [windows flag]+[R] and type in CMD and hit enter
in the black CMD screen type
ping google.fr
and hit enter

I get a California IP when I ping google.fr. Probably because it's geographically load balanced.

Try:
Code: Select all
ping 78.109.85.178 -t

It will continuously ping a French IP. Leave it open and try WoW. When you're lagging the most check to see what the rough average ping of the French IP is around that time.

- Are you on Wireless?
- Is 4Mb/s your upload or download? What's the other?
- Does your FPS drop when lagging? What's the lowest you see?

thankfully a gm was decent enough to look into it, i assume i rubber banded or something when i diss mounted as it was apparently for speed hacking. with my latency, it might pay to keep off my mount for now :-S
