The Corrupted MPQ problem

by Martinslow » Mon Apr 06, 2015 12:27 pm

Hi, I have been looking for a fix/description of best troubleshooting/any help on the problem with corrupted Data files after downloading and extracting the Rar files. Here is the error:

This application has encountered a critical error:

ERROR #131 (0x85100083) File Corrupt
Program: D:\World of Warcraft 1.12 Clientss\World of Warcraft 1.12\WoW.exe

Failed to open archive Data\texture.MPQ

What I have tried so far:
Downloading the Mega version of the client (Stopped at 99% decryption failure), Downloading a torrent version for the feenix server, Extracting rar files and allowing errors.

It seems like I need a fresh copy of the texture.mpq file, but I dont know and would appreciate any help.
PS: Have tried downloading the different clients 2 and 3 times each and they are still corrupt.

I Use an SSD and a 2tb Hard drive and my operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate.

Hi Martinslow,

There could be a number of factors that could cause a download to corrupt such as network instability, buggy software or hardware issues. Have you had similar issues like this recently with other downloads? You should probably have it looked at but It may work for now to have a friend on a different network download and extract it to a USB Drive then all you need to do is copy it to your PC.

You are a lifesaver :) It worked when the file was extracted on another computer and sent over the wifi to my computer locally. ^^ Lvl 20 hunter allready

And no, I have not had issues with extracting/downloading other files. For now the problem is fixed, Il have to look into a more permanent fix for other files later, but thanks a lot again :)!
