Trained Razorbeak are somewhat bugged?

Greeting

I've been questing in The Hinterlands and came upon the quest "Another Message to the Wildhammer" where we are to get 10 feathers from gryphons. With that in mind and with not that many gryphons roaming around i thought to go near the alliance base since there seems to be somewhat more gryphons around there. Now here's the weird thing. I am a 47 warrior as i am writing this and the gryphons are 40-42. When i attacked them i seem to do a lot less damage then what i do when i attack other mobs. For example i do regular 80-100 damage per swing on a mob my level or less, but when it comes to these gryphons it seems i only hit fro 34-45. The effect of this seems to drag out the fight and almost end up killing me. Also something to note i have tried this on the other gryphons around the hinterlands and they take as much damage as any normal mob i kill.

Is this a bug? Or are they supposed to maybe be elite status and now they are not? Something just does not feel right. So if you guys could have a look at that for the future that would be great.

I can confirm this bug; I was there myself killing those guys for feathers while I was levelling and its almost like they have over 20k armor.
