Random lag spikes? [SOLVED]

by NikeTheSword » Thu Apr 09, 2015 7:28 pm

Hi there!
Normally the game runs smooth and without a problem, but occasionally I start to get spikes of 2-4 seconds.
Now I wouldn't mind a spike here and there, but what's tearing me is that when they come there's alot of them (about once every 10 sec the game freezes and then just catches up after 2-4 seconds).

I've done everything connection related in viewtopic.php?f=45&t=5359
and I've ruled out that it's not related to specific actions in-game (happens both standing still, running, in combat etc.). My ping sits happily at 40-50ms and doesn't change during the spiking and same can be said for my cpu-usage from task-manager.

My system is rather new: Acer Aspire V3 with I7 quad 2.2Ghz, 8Gb ram and Nvidia GeForce GTX 850M (drivers updated). Also I'm pretty sure the problem is not hardware related as 70% of time everything runs perfectly.

Any and all help is appreciated, it's really bugging me :)
Cheerios!

EDIT:
I managed to fix this problem. It was in the end a really simple problem though bit hard to locate.
Some of the files in the installation-folder (namely sound files) had become fractured/corrupted during recompiling. So anyone running into this specific problem should re-download the files (my problems we're fixed completely by replacing only the sound files, so full package might not be necessary ;) ) and if possible try another source.

Hope this helps someone in the future<3

Update (and a bump): I've noticed that the lag spikes seem to be tied to certain sound effects starting to play.
For example playing /flirt on my male gnome always triggers a lag spike. Also some (but not all) combat sounds trigger the lag. It's as if the game client is querying resources from the server instead of my local files?

Still hoping for help with this, cheers :)
