Moving and Multi-acc playing.

by Flex » Fri Apr 10, 2015 6:39 am

Hi guys,

I had two things to ask :

First, I just moved which means change of IRL adress and i guess a change in my IP adress, I hope that will not lead to suspicious activity and ban of my accs. Do I have to pm a staff member with my acc name and char name to get sure this will not appear as a weird behaviour ?

The second one is probably answered somewhere in this forum, but I actually didn't see it in ToU and didn't have enough time to read each post.
My question was about Multi-acc playing. I understand that multiboxing isn't allowed (for multiple good reasons), but I think there is a lack of rules about playing 2 char at the same time, in a way your 2 char can't interact or help each other. I actually was used to do this on an other private server. It's most of the time to "save" time while my (other) char is travelling (which represents a really big amount of time :)).
I will totally understand if this isn't allowed, I just want to know before I get an (or both) account banned. And I'll don't do it anymore if this is a ban-able behaviour.

Best regards,

PS : Sorry for mistakes, english isn't my main language....

It's extremely clear about playing multiple accounts simultaneously. They don't allow it. If you have multiple accounts one can be a bank toon AFK in town, thats pretty much it.

You can play each account at different times though, assuming one is in town.

the terms of use are actually quite clear about the use of multiple accounts under 1 roof :)

How about multi-boxing and bots ?
You're not allowed to use any form of program to control multiple characters at once. We only allow 2 characters online simultaneously for professions (not involving any kind of farming) and banking items (e.g creating an item and/or inserting an item). This means you cannot /follow or level 2 characters at once. This will result in a ban of one of the two, and if repeated, both. It is also not a problem if you are, for instance, three family members in the same house, playing at the same time. Each multi-box case will be judged individually, so don't worry if you're not doing anything wrong. What you can't do, is PvP with multiple characters, Dungeon with multiple characters, Raid with multiple characters, etc.

If you are two people playing two characters - no problem. If you are 5 people playing 5 characters - no problem.
Once a player get caught, GM shall ask him which account he want to keep, all others accounts shall receive a permanent closure.

Hi Krusher,

I don't find this "quite clear". When I look at "This means you cannot /follow or level 2 characters at once.", it can means :
1) you can't level two char at the same time together, wich means you'll be able to do things that you couldn't do alone and/or get advantage of it in wpvp, which is totally understandable and logical.
2) you can't level two char at the same time, even if first is in barrens and second one in arathi highlands for example. Which in this case, I really don't understand why ? Yeah you will sometime be afk and be a free HK for anyone of other faction but why is this not allowed and bannable in this case ?

I really don't want to bother you, I just have a better understanding when I understand why.

Thanks for your time,

Your IP switching might get you investigated as potential account or gold trader, but it is not something you have to worry about if you're a regular player. Regarding multibox, you should never have 2 characters even near each other unless they're inside a town or city, where they can trade/buff, but not much else. We keep banning accounts for multiboxing, with users telling us they didn't read the rules or know it was bannable; this isn't a defense, and we've made every attempt to have it spelled out in both the Terms+FAQ. You can use the second one in town for bank storage, but if you want to quest both, you must do each zone twice, once per character. You can switch them out in the town(Inns gives rested btw), but they should not quest or fight together. For BGs, you should never queue with more than 1 character at a time. You must decide which character you wish to fight on, and play that one.

Me and my wife play together, she has her own account. Is this a possible problem? We live in the same house so we have the same ip

Hi again,

Thank you Kraft for your response. If I understood well, I can quest with 2 char at the same time but in different areas (which means they can't with each other) ? That's what I was asking in my first post, I usally did this for "save" time travel. I auto run on an account to travel ashenvale with one char and I kill mobs in arathi or somewhere else with my other char. Whiche means, (to use your words) do each zone once for each char, and not use one to help the other.

I think I did untderstand the ToU about multi-boxing, and I totally agree with it. Thing is, is it considered as multi-boxing to play 2 char that can't interact with each other (I mean by not being in the same area at the same time for example) ?
