Unable to connect

by Thamuz » Sat Apr 11, 2015 1:28 pm

Hello.

I had some problems connecting for a while now and none of the fixes on the forum work , but this is what i discovered: If i delete WTF/WDB and reset my internet connection i can connect to the server , but if i change my video/interface settings and log out i get the "unable to connect" message again when I try to log back in. I've done this 3 times and i could connect and every time i change the settings it doesn't work anymore.

This is how my config file looks like after changing the settings:
Code: Select all
SET readTOS "1"
SET readEULA "1"
SET hwDetect "0"
SET gxColorBits "24"
SET gxDepthBits "24"
SET gxResolution "1366x768"
SET gxRefresh "60"
SET gxMultisampleQuality "0.000000"

SET farclip "777"
SET specular "1"
SET pixelShaders "1"
SET particleDensity "1.000000"
SET unitDrawDist "300.000000"
SET accountName "deathkneel"
SET movie "0"
SET realmList "login2.nostalrius.org"
SET gxTripleBuffer "1"
SET gxMultisample "4"
SET shadowLevel "0"
SET anisotropic "16"
SET M2UsePixelShaders "1"
SET mouseSpeed "1"
SET Gamma "1.000000"
SET lastCharacterIndex "1"
SET profanityFilter "0"
SET MusicVolume "0.40000000596046"
SET SoundVolume "1"
SET MasterVolume "1"
SET weatherDensity "3"
SET realmName "Nostalrius Begins"
SET cameraYawMoveSpeed "180"
SET cameraYawSmoothSpeed "180"
SET cameraDistanceMaxFactor "2"
SET gameTip "1"
SET AmbienceVolume "0.60000002384186"
SET statusBarText "1"
SET uiScale "1"
SET UnitNameOwn "1"

Something in here gets blocked by the server or something. Please help! xd

Hi Thamuz,

I don't have a definitive solution for you. However, if you feel that it may be a setting in your Config.WTF file than make a backup of it and keep testing it by removing chunks of it until it works for you.

As a first test, I would:
- Reset everything so you can login.
- Login, do not modify any settings and then close WoW.
- Login again to verify that you're still able to login. Do not modify any settings and then close WoW.
- Backup your 'unconfigured but working' Config.WTF file.
- Modify settings and verify that you are now unable to connect and then close WoW.
- Backup your 'broken' Config.WTF File.
- Restore your 'unconfigured but working' Config.WTF file.
- Login to verify if you can connect which will tell if it's strictly a settings in your Config.WTF file or somewhere else. If you can login then continue to the next step.
- Restore your 'broken' Config.WTF File and start deleting chunks while testing each time, close Wow each time. Once you're able to connect then narrow it down to one setting, unless there's a few that cause it then start adding settings until we've tracked down exactly which setting is causing the issue.

I think the same happened with me, banned for login attempts.

Forgot the password for one of my accounts, and it looks like it blocked out my whole ISP, can't log in on either account I have on any of my computers.

Accounts are DarkRetard and Klesaful.

`Thanks gais..

I got some time to play right now and I've done some tests to see from which setting the problem appears and the problematic line from all that is:
Code: Select all
SET accountName "deathkneel"
THAT is the damn problem ...
So if you don't check the remember account name box and write your account name everytime you log in it works. Somehow the server does not recognize the account names if they are stored by our wows .
As it would be nice if the devs would fix this , for now just type your account name everytime you log in and don't check the remember box xd .

My account is stored and all I have to do is enter my password when I open the game client.....
