Unable to play in Windowed mode

Everytime when I try to start the game in windowed or windowed fullscreen, the game just freezes, but the game sound still goes on. I can basically play the game but without seeing what im doing bcs the game froze.
I only have this problem on windows 7. On windows 8.1 for example i can switch to windowed without any complications

try to add

 SET gxApi "OpenGL"

(your client will use OpenGL instead of DirectX)
Then ingame change to "windowed" mode without maximization
