Unable to connect

by aceventura » Tue Apr 21, 2015 7:42 pm

Hi I get this error "unable to connect" since yesterday (still haven't logged in once successfully), I've tried different accounts, setting realmlist to no.2 and I did a tracert and my connection seems fine. I don't know what else to do. Help! I've been given the error which means I've tried too many log ins and will try to log in again in an hour

Tried again and still "unable to connect", any fix for this?

Tried disabling your firewall and running the game as admin?

Yes I have, only difference was that it showed the cinematic on boot up :( - Got GF to create me another account on her IP but still can't connect, tried with 4 different accounts on different emails, I also tried a simpler password this time as I heard complicated passwords can cause issues but still stuck.

I tried re-installing the game again also now. Absolutely stumped

It's hard to understand exactly where in the process you might be. You first said you haven't successfully logged in yet. It could be you haven't actually set up a game account. Your last post you say the only difference is you got the opening cinematic. You didn't get the opening cinematic all the other times? Rather than go through a Q and A to narrow it down to where you are, why don't you go through the sticky above and see if you can discover what the problem might be.

I've read all stickys and spent alot of time researching online. I've created multiple accounts to try all of which don't get past the error message "unable to connect" this comes after the handshake on log in. I have most definitely created an account.

If any GM's are reading, account names are "lukebriant" and "lukeventura" - Maybe they can see if anything is wrong with my accounts?

I got the cinematic on my first start up, however I got it again when running the client as an admin.

This is what I've tried so far

- Set realmlist realmlist login.nostalrius.org and set realmname "Nostalrius Begins" in my realmlist installation file
- Set to realmlist 2
- Added TCP rules allowing ports 3724, 8000-8100 to my windows firewall
- Disabled AVG
- Deleted WDB and WTF files
- Reinstalled the game
- Ran tracert to game server (all ok)
- Creating an account with a simpler password and different email
- Ran the client as an admin
- Ensured client is version 1.12.1
- Checked the property's of the files ensuring I have full access
- Downloaded a client from piratebay to try, same error
- Moved files from Program x86 to Program Files
- Attempted a connection using a VPN

Every time the same error, unless I get the error for too many attempts. When I enter incorrect details I get an error message telling me that, so I can confirm my details are correct and I am connecting to the network because my details are being checked.

What is working is the game client run's fine, I see Nostalrius Begins in gray letters on the bottom right hand side and I get past the handshake when I attempt log in but get trumped by "unable to connect". When I created the account it did say that it was successfully created and I've created multiple more accounts paying alot of attention to my log in details but still nothing.

There is a limit on how many accounts you can create on same ip. It was 3, but I saw a GM mention it was only 2 recently. How having a bunch of accounts on same IP would push each other around I don't know.

you can try copying and pasting this clean, simple info in your setup. also you can try running VPN....as a last resort.

VPN yielding no results, tried 3 different ones

Also when I type incorrect details I get an error message telling me that, so I know my details are correct at this point and that I am getting some feedback from servers

I'm seeing a lot of "unable to connect" threads lately. I think most of them are people attempting to use their forum subscriber info as their game account info or they are just entering the wrong info too many times and getting a mini ban.

If you've done all of the above and are certain you're signing on with game credentials and not nostalrius forum info AND you tried using 3 vpns...I don't know. There are a couple of routing experts that occasionally sign on.
