I'm not sure if it's the surplus of players on a single server or if some bug is going on, but mining is the single most frustrating and difficult skill to level up, and it shouldn't be that way. Skinning is easy, because all beasts can be skinned. Tailoring is likewise satisfyingly simple, because humanoids drop cloth. Herbalism is similar to mining, but for some reason it seems that herbs respawn more quickly.
At any rate, is there any way that the rate at which mining nodes respawn can be greatly reduced? It should be relatively easy to find mineral nodes to the point where once you get to an area with tin, you should be able to at least mine it. I'm level 55 mining, which means that copper is green for me, so I can't reliably level it up to 65 where I can mine tin.
I've wandered around entire zones not finding a single copper node to mine. I think making the nodes respawn more quickly would help the economy, and make the skill an actual viable choice.
