Some shamans can use swords, these shamans are known as paladins.

Because giving shamans swords would mean that you need to give axes to rogues, swords to priests (otherwise you're just a hypocrite). This would probably lead to other changes, because if you start changing stuff you don't like .. what reason is there to stop at weapon proficiency?

Priests can wield maces, rogues have daggers as extra option and even then if priests can wield 1h swords i dont see how this would be some game breaking change

This. Nobody wants this, except you.
The level of whining about bans on the forums is at an all time industrial level.

And here we got a shaman wearing plate, give shamans plate armor NOW.
Also, resto shamans should be able to get benediction aswell #equality.

Daggers for rogues are not "extra option" but spec defining weapons.

It's not gamebreaking, but if you give shamans swords, you have to give priests 1h swords, warlocks/mages 1h maces, axes for rogues and so on. It's not like blizzard "forgot" shamans and they ended up with less weapon skills that others. Just compare weapon skills between classes, in general all casters have 3 types of weapons available (two types of one-handed + staves).
Doing this change leads to situation that everyone can use every weapon (at least relevant ones), so why exactly there are weapon skills at all?
