What is it for?

by Kazy » Thu Sep 17, 2015 5:52 am

I have seen a lot of suggestions on this forum. Most, if not all of the suggestions have been shot down by saying "Not vanilla blizzlike, so obviously not". Technically that is a valid point because the Nost team has been very addamant about keeping things vanilla blizzlike.
This does leave me with the question: What is the suggestion forum for?
If we accept the above statement, that anything not vanilla blizzlike is unacceptable, then the only thing left for the suggestion forum would be something that is indeed vanilla blizzlike... But to me that would seem like a bug or missing feature and not really something for the suggestion forum.
This leaves me a bit puzzled... What is the suggestion forum for?
I'd love to hear what it could be for, especially from the people saying "not vanilla blizzlike" to any/all suggestions.

I was thinking about making a post just like this. Indeed most valid post in this section are about bugs rather than suggestions.

The only suggestions that make sense ís suggestions about the forum and there have been some. E.g. forum ranks.

Other than that, this section really should be removed.

It's social engineering. Make a "suggestions" section and never take those suggestions seriously (unless it's a forum change suggestion), to make people feel that they have the ability to make a change and be happier about the server.
Any ideas always get shut down and the rest of the threads is just constant whining to fix bugs.

It's mostly used as a feedback sub-forum. Which sometimes happen to provide results on both the forums (ranks) and IG (broken pvp pls fix thx).

The suggestion page is for issues that revolve around blizzlike scripting versus blizzlike experience.
For example devs are tempering with queues because there is such a high amount of premades that it's technically blizzlike scripting but it's not how the game felt back then as you only met a premade every 5-10 games.
Another thing: People didn't no shit about how to grind gold. Couple hunters might have used solotactics in dungeons to get their fair amount of gold. But nowadays everybody and their mom use these methods, therefore it's seriously influencing economy.
Therefore only suggestion that actually make the game feel blizzlike might be considered reasonable.

I never looked at it that way. I guess you're right. The recent pvp changes are a great non-blizzlike addition that only improves the server quality and that suggestion came through this forum.

I am surprised at how reasonable and well argued the responses I got on this was.
I guess that the suggestion forum technically does have a purpose (blizzlike script vs. blizzlike feel)...
Maybe they should add a sticky about the sort of suggestions that will be taken serious. I get that you could claim that people should realize this on their own, but the sheer number of non-blizzlike suggestions would say otherwise.

Blizzlike is a very finicky subject. A lot of the suggestions on here that get immediately shot down as "not blizzlike" are just silly to begin with. Stuff like barber shop and WoD models that people claim won't affect the game play in any way. Otherwise, people have to keep in mind that there will never be a 100% true Blizzlike server and that each server must take certain liberties to change what is in the best interest for the community and not necessarily for the sake of being "blizzlike."

To expand on what you said, non-Blizzlike changes need to be made occasionally on a server like this. The population difference between this and a regular Vanilla server necessitates changes in spawn rates for leveling and economical reasons. Beyond this, other changes are necessary because people don't approach the game now like they did back then.
