We could get increased server stability. We're overloading the one there is.
A PvE server and a maybe a RP server for those who like that. It'd be great.
This also means the hosts could make a living out of this and dedicate more time to quality of life improvements and bugfixing.

As soon as Nostalrius starts charging or selling items, the server is no longer worth playing on.

Private server's will never be subbed, no one in their right mind would pay for time in something that is illegal and therefor no guarantee of service whatsoever. Blizzard only takes out private servers which perform services for profit, Nostalrius having the biggest playerbase in years if not ever in private servers, would certainly be of interest if it isn't already.

Private servers = planets in the Great Dark Beyond... Service charges and cash shops = arcane magic... Blizzard's lawyer team = Burning Legion... and no mortal army can defeat a C&D. Not to mention all the integrity problems that come when you start asking for money. Really it's the best for everyone if there's no real money involved.

I think it is great that you seem willing to support this server financially, but a subscription fee would be the wrong way to go. Others have mentioned it, but as soon as this server starts to make money blizzard will come after it. Donations to pay for running costs and the like IS the way to go and I urge you to go do that if you really want to support the team.

As much as I love Nostalrius, I don't love it enough to pay more than what retail charges every month in order to play on it; I'm sure many others feel the same way.
