Anyone ever heard of WoWscape? one of the biggest Private servers ever. They had a cash shop and blizzard sued them for 89 Million lol. Blizz won by default.
Now having donations is definitely what will probably happen but for what you get for donating that's dancing with the fire.

If anyone thinks for a second that any crazy stunt can outsmart a billion $ company, which claims legal wrights over its products - yes emulated servers are still their intellectual property - they are kidding themselves. Sooner rather than or later, the project will be closed maybe even sued and those 5 years of testing, upgrading and so on and so forth would have been for nothing. Furthermore it would be a mark of no credibility: ''

Is it a pay-to-win server?
No, we'll never be a pay-to-win server.
For example, no stuff / XP / gold / ... will be given against donations or as vote rewards.''

Long story short, there will be consequences either way, no matter how good the donation plan may seem.

P.S. its a bit funny to see that the blizzlike server hasn't even launched yet and this sort of debates already appear all over the place.
Someday, we'll look back on this, laugh nervously and change the subject.

End o' story.

That sort of statement is just invalid if you don't propose how we can finance the server. Just like reality does, your escape from reality runs on money aswell.

Server has been running for 4 years or so without players financing... Do you really think they'll need it now? If they suddenly do, after telling us they're fine, I would suspect someone making money. Now I'm fine with them making money to provide quality, but not with something that is monetized IG.

Put a donation up, you'd be surprised...
