[Suggestion/Fix] Rain in Elwynn and other areas

by sokyru » Sun Mar 08, 2015 7:29 pm

So the nonstop rain in places like Elwynn I've heard isn't technically a bug, but I think it should be changed. I have read that it is due to the weather types having equally split chances, and since there are 3 types of rain, it rains 75% of the time. This rain bug/issue has probably been the most unblizzlike aspect of this server that I've noticed, which seems small, but it just really puts a damper on the whole leveling process (especially as a warrior :D) Could this be lowered to something like, 25% rain and 75% sun (or even lower?)

Thanks & keep up the good work.

I have to disagree sorry, it really adds "atmosphere" to a zone, there is snow in DM aswell please dont change it.

Since it clearly is not working properly i would remove the weather effects at all.

Atm the weather effects kick in very often.
Weather even vary on players, for example if i relog the rain is gone or appears.
Sometimes i can hear the rain but can not see it.

Just cut the chance for weather in half. Should provide enough variety at that point.

Or make a macro for weatherDensity 0 and weatherDensity 3.

As far as I know weather is completely controlled client-side meaning this is nothing Admin/GM/Devs can control.

That would be immensely stupid. Having rain and snow is one of those tiny little details that are missing from most MMOs, that also improve immersion and "atmosphere" greatly. Not even TOR with it's $300 million budget had weather effects on planets - at least I never got to experience them.

Searched for "rain" in the forums and found this thread. Just wanted to say there hasn't been a day I've played where it wasn't raining in Elwynn Forest. It doesn't really bother me, but man, after two or three weeks of non-stop rain, it kind of gets depressing. On a related note, I made it to Redridge Mountains and while bright and sunny, I hear the rain sound effects in the background. I just can't escape the rain no matter what happens.

False, weather is controlled server side. GMs could even manually change the weather whenever they want to.
