Most players are not into competition, wiping 2 weeks straight, etc but they are making the server alive with the economy, dungeons, questing, battlegrounds and if in the end they cant progress, from experience most of them will get frustrated, will not try hard and stop if the content is overpowered and too demanding.

Sadly or not, "casuals" make servers alive, you just cant forget them to please a minority.
Blizzard responded to this problem with multiple modes adapted to different kinds of players but this would require to modify the sacrosanct vanilla and that's not an option.

That's exactly what blizzard changed in TBC, but in vanilla the highest content was very much balanced around the top guilds. How many guilds even went in to naxxramas? Another post mentions where during TBC blizzard openly admitted that they made the content really hard for the top end guilds and then nerfed it later so people could catch up.

Why would we adopt blizzard's design philosophy from wrath onwards where everyone gets to do every boss when in vanilla it is supposed to be exclusive to be able to kill the final boss?

This was a time when the game wasn't catered to casuals.

This is why AQ needs to be released while guilds may still have no rejuv gems or Nef caster loot
