I feel like I should put this here because the other threads get crowded with "not blizzlike" and other redundant responses. If someone that has kept up with the patch/client mod scene can add citations to this, I would greatly appreciate it.

IIRC, patch 3.3.5a (and later I think) are the only patches/client that has been reverse engineered to modify at free will. Please note that the developers are not editing the client or patch ... which is required in order to introduce the ability to allow a player to select a title they have obtained (if any).
I'm not saying this idea is bad or every idea that requires a new patch is inherently bad, but I just want to tell you that the developers aren't aiming for players to download a new patch and build onto the emulator to process this ability through the server. I can honestly say that I have not followed the patch modding 'scene', so I can't tell you whether or not this is even possible without a reverse engineer.
However, if it is possible, I don't think cosmetic changes like will ever be on their priority list. The content is still being patched in-game and ongoing tests to examine bugs/glitches in upcoming content are on the top of the priority list until the progression timeline has come to an end. This "end" might be around the last of TBC content so the wait may be excruciating if you're holding your breath.
...Not to shoot your idea down, but please don't hold your breath. I don't want a player to die on my watch.
