Have account login show warnings & other info

by Mopar » Thu Oct 29, 2015 5:04 am

I suggest adding to the account login page text listing any warnings that have been added to the account. Specifically, include:

- Date of warning
- Name of GM applying the warning
- Character on the account involved
- What the warning was for (and whether it's a last warning)

There have been a few cases where players in the Account Issues forum were banned and said they didn't receive a warning. But they had, only it was many months prior. Since warnings stay on an account for the life of the account, then this can serve as a reminder, and maybe avoid GMs having to handle ban appeals from a player who just doesn't remember he was warned about something. Also, it will serve as a caution to follow the TOU if it prominently appears.

Also it would be useful to show on that login page the last IP address that the account was logged in with. This may help players determine whether someone has accessed the account other than themselves.

This is a great idea. The warnings will also serve as a reminder to repeat offenders.

I imagine all of that being doable, and a decent idea. However, they probably will hide the GM name who gave them the sanction, as it could promote witch hunting, etc.

This is correct.

Makes sense. You never see them disclose any names regarding bans on the forums.

So is this suggestion part of the 1% actually being approved?

Does this mean the change is being considered, or already approved? If so, those are great news.

Before making any decision, we have to ponder the time to implement the suggestion, which developers need to be involved (core, database, web) and when it is possible. If we have to delay things for it, it probably will not happen soon as other things/issues/projects have higher priority. The suggestions are pondered in our weekly core team.

Thanks Syrah.

On others, the point of putting the GM name there is accountability. Specifically, it's the idea that anyone who is accused of something has the right of knowing who is accusing them. It shouldn't just be some rat in GM island.

The problem we do not want to have is in your sentence with "who is accusing them". It is nobody but the server, nothing is personal and this is why we believe it should stay this way. If there is an internal fuck up, you can bet we are aware of it way before the community and we do not need some community drama/pressure on top of it.
