bumping this up

totally agree for the implementation of an armory to track player gear/rank/standing and maybe even a status for raidbosses cleared

i dont see any downside to it (implying there is one to begin with)

"privacy of your toon"
"mystique [...] rich game environment"
"everyone knowing everything"

sorry, i laughed out loud and read that as "waaaah now everyone will see what a scrub i am having wrong enchants!! i dun wanna be judged by my character or else i wont be taken into any raid that has any form of dignity and awareness!"
simply hilarious

oh and the term is CHARACTER

If you're interested in an armory, check out http://realmplayers.com/
It has tons of neat features, check out the raidstats esp.

Its already up and running for different projects, its fairly easy to start, its a former guildie of mine who made it.

the problem with realmplayers is you need people with the programm running around 24/7 to inspect all characters they pass by

a selfmade page by the devs that gets its data directly from the server would be a lot more convenient and accurate

Well first of, its not a program, its an addon which doesnt affect you / the pc (ie, no running files) and it automatically does everything, so theres no work needed what so ever.

Selfmade page would sure be nice, but how many projects have been able to do that, succesfully? - ..To a degree where the time spent on it actually benefits the server, very few, if not none.
If you actually spend time checking out how it works, it could perhaps grant you a better idea of what its, so you dont have to throw inaccurate interpretations. :-)

addon... program... same shit for me, an addon is a programm
and last time i played on ED over a year ago or rebirth, you still needed people with said ADDON to inspect your char (either manually or automatically) for realmplayers to get the data
people who would run around the world in whatever places wouldnt get registered on ED... and on rebirth the completele alliance side data was missing cuz nobody had said ADDON
bt again, that was a year ago

On the topic of a database. Are the other private servers databases right?
For instance, I've experienced very little vanilla content in my day. At least when it comes to raiding. So, I was looking around on vanilla WoW wiki's and came across multiple gear that have conflicting stats that the other 1.12.1 vanilla server DB's have.

As an example:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Cauterizing_Band (wiki page)
http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=19140
http://database.wow-one.com/index.php?item=19140
http://db.valkyrie-wow.org/?item=19140
http://db.wowascension.com/?item=19140#dropped-by
http://www.wowhead.com/item=19140 (what the item is now)

I'm assuming I shouldn't be relying on the wiki page. Is this assessment correct? I wanted to read up on boss encounters and so forth which none of these DB sites have when I came across these loot tables >_>;

some items had their stats changed throughout the game several times
especially during the transition from vanilla to bc
some servers take the latest possible version of the item, which is often already buffed to bc stats before the actual release of bc, some just keep it the old way

you can ask every hunter and rogue about the nefarian neck...

Oh...
Is that just a default from MaNGOS?

I was reading through old Feenix threads saying that a lot of the items in these DB are completely wrong. I suppose we wouldn't have any idea if Nostalrius is pre-bc items or not, do we?

dunno how the devs want to deal with it but i assume since they want to have the old stats for pvp gear on release and then update them once zg releases, it is safe to say that they will keep the old stats for most items like nef neck or soulstring and MAYBE update them once we hit 1.12 (or whenever those got updated)
