I am with Overflow. I don't understand why people have to try and be "edgy" by using racist/homophobic/sexist language. If nothing else, it's boring and unoriginal.

If it's boring and unoriginal how can you be this concerned with it?
And why the heck is back-seat moderating allowed here? I understand verbal abuse raises a concern when it's directed at someone but to moderate General chat where discussion is supposedly free is an overkill.

Not a day goes by that someone uses the word "faggot" or "nigger" in World. While its unoriginal and therefore kinda boring, it's still offensive as fuck.

We're talking about Global, not General... but really, who said discussion was free on either chat channel?

Honestly, I'm mixed. On one hand, I think that people blocking assholes with /ignore or SpamThrottle will greatly reduce their audience and impact on chat. On the other hand, there are repercussions for one's actions and words and I'd like to see these douchnozzles get what's coming to them for breaking rules.

Is it so hard to NOT use racist and homophobic slurs online? Is someone holding a gun to people's heads and forcing them to call people "faggots" and "niggers"?

I think it's a reasonable goal for some point in the future if the major issues have been tackled and they have the manpower and time and inclination to look into moderating chat more heavily. Doesn't seem like a priority now.

I will say that there are some idiots on there just being annoying as all hell for no reason (I am not Jewish but seriously listening to 13-yr-olds making jokes about the holocaust for 3 hours straight, just to get some attention because their parents are getting a divorce or w/e gets real old.) This is totally standard fare as it stands now.

And I guess if you are a purist... Blizz sure as hell didn't tolerate any crap in chat. Saying so much as "fuck" could get you nailed with whole range of punishments.

I agree with you that it's offensive. What I don't agree with is that offensive wording should be moderated (again verbal bullying is a whole different case compared to random slurs thrown in World chat). You can't fight stupidity in the internet. You can't block all offensive content. You're always bound to run into shit in the internet, no one can save you from it.

Learn to ignore it, simply for your own sake.

Learn to ignore it, simply for your own sake.

I can´t just ignore it, it is not in my nature. Because ignoring the problem doesn't make it go away!
It either:

1) Grows to be an even bigger problem, and therefor will be harder to deal with, or
2) Will make the people being ignored want to scream even louder, to provoke or get attention I do not know!

And before anyone says "Just enable the profanity filter dude"
-There are so many ways to circumvent that filter, and by the way if someone is trying to insult me. I would want to know! So that in case i am really offended, I can defend myself!
