You simply have to rely on not getting touched. Obviously the situation will not always be in your favor; and sadly either class has to deal with whoever gets the upperhand.Azi wrote:You can't be serious.
Yes, hunter is a ranged specialist but that doesn't classify them as a caster. The word caster generally refers to magic users such as a warlock, mage or maybe a boomkin - not a hunter.
You are arguing that hunters have CC to control attackers, but a single icetrap with a cooldown and a short lived concussive shot you need to specc into to benefit from is not what I'd call effective CC. It's support skills, thats about it. It may work in a grp where mob movement is predictablee but against another player chances are slim to none that you'll actually trap anyone unless they are already biting your neck!!
I'm having problems following your reasoning as to why hunters bow cap should remain, when you consider how defenselesss and trapped they become as soon as someone closes the gap. They are prime targets for rogues or anyone else who has a charge, speedbuff or stealth and can't get away as cheetah will daze them and disengage does not propel you anywhere in Vanilla.
If you go through the classes I doubt you'll find any class as encumbered in ex. non-ideal positioning as hunters are. As a hunter you don't only have to worry bout your minimum range - you also have to keep them within max range. Misjudge your enemies movements, even just a bit and you'll get skinned alive.
Rogues got instant stealth, priests have shield, hots and heals, mages have frostnova and blink.... just to mention a few...
Even the best of us makes mistakes when playing and I am having a hard time understanding howcome you can demand such precision when it doesn't bother you that every other class can handle themselfs in both ranged and melee states. And those that cant help themselfs in melee atleast have the means to get back at a range...
