Being close makes them vulnerable to CC from melee classes; but which is why ranged classes have CC to stop melee from getting close to them, as well as melee having CC to get close to them, or keep them close. You simply have to rely on not getting touched. Obviously the situation will not always be in your favor; and sadly either class has to deal with whoever gets the upperhand.

Yes, hunter is a ranged specialist but that doesn't classify them as a caster. The word caster generally refers to magic users such as a warlock, mage or maybe a boomkin - not a hunter.
You are arguing that hunters have CC to control attackers, but a single icetrap with a cooldown and a short lived concussive shot you need to specc into to benefit from is not what I'd call effective CC. It's support skills, thats about it. It may work in a grp where mob movement is predictablee but against another player chances are slim to none that you'll actually trap anyone unless they are already biting your neck!!

I'm having problems following your reasoning as to why hunters bow cap should remain, when you consider how defenselesss and trapped they become as soon as someone closes the gap. They are prime targets for rogues or anyone else who has a charge, speedbuff or stealth and can't get away as cheetah will daze them and disengage does not propel you anywhere in Vanilla.
If you go through the classes I doubt you'll find any class as encumbered in ex. non-ideal positioning as hunters are. As a hunter you don't only have to worry bout your minimum range - you also have to keep them within max range. Misjudge your enemies movements, even just a bit and you'll get skinned alive.
Rogues got instant stealth, priests have shield, hots and heals, mages have frostnova and blink.... just to mention a few...

Even the best of us makes mistakes when playing and I am having a hard time understanding howcome you can demand such precision when it doesn't bother you that every other class can handle themselfs in both ranged and melee states. And those that cant help themselfs in melee atleast have the means to get back at a range...

mages, warlocks, priests ALL classes that are also considered to be "ranged" can still use their spells and even WANDS on melee range!!!! so what exactly is the point on restricting that for the hunter class?? hunters have like ONE valid ability to deal dmg in melee which is raptor strike. how many abilities can other ("ranged" classes) use in melee?? also other classes have just as much CC as hunters do or even more so it would be just as easy for them as it is for hunters to RUN AWAY. great tactic opportunity btw!! so if a mob or another player no matter if he is meleee or ranged comes close you want hunters to run away cause they cant use sht melee and are the worst melee class wtf is this sht supposed to be?! blizzard FIXED that for a good damn reason and so should nostalrius! remove this shitty min range so others cant EXPLOIT this any longer!!!!

Yeah it's annoying, but it adds flavour, and it's definitely part of the Vanilla experience.

Hey guys, can we make the easiest class in the game to play even easier? It's really hard for me to stay at range, and thanks to all these "track X" spells I don't have enough free keybinds to effectively use wing clip, scattershot, freezing trap, frost trap, boar charge, intimidation, concussive shot, or some remote level of skill. This clearly needs to be fixed by the devs. Thanks!

The hunter tracking skills amount to absolutly zero value. And fro myou're way of putting it Lorilay you don't seem to have much experience on anything resembling the hunter.
Holmes has a very good point, even though I may disagree in his way of expressing his oppinion.
It's the same thing as neutralizing 65'ish% of the rogues dmg nomatter the ability as soon as he gets within 8 yards of his target. Thats basically what happens to hunters...

I don't really care if thats the way hunters started out. It's crippling and it's being abused. As a statement that ought to be enough tbh.

is this meant to be a JOKE???
scatter shot: TALENT, 30 seconds CD, breaks on damage
freezing trap: 15 seconds CD, breaks on damage, only useable OUT OF COMBAT
intimidation: TALENT, 1 minute CD
boar charge: pet specific skill, has a MIN RANGE
cuncussive shot: only slows and has a MIN RANGE
wing clip: only slows

you see pretty much everything requires talent points to even become available right?? and the other few things can only be used out of combat or require a min range to use. remaining CC in melee: WING CLIP NICE A SLOWING EFFECT yesss they got a lot of CC to RUN AWAY

and tracking is totally useless. you turn that sht on and you get 20 red dots on your minimap moving around saying NOTHING at all. you dont even know if its a friendly, hostile or neutral unit. all you can do is hover your mouse over each dot one by one to see its name!! really usefull im LMAO
on top druids and schamans transformed do not even count as humans so you would have to switch between animals and humans all the time NICE
and with a draw distance from 20 meters the tracker also only shows 20 meters wow i can track a 20m radius like i couldnt see this far without TOTALLY USELESS
and all the lag makes it also impossible for hunters to feign death + trap before you're pulled back into combat its such broken class such a joke but the min range especially with the lags is the worst and has to be fixed
really nice that you clearly have no idea about hunters must have been a troll post complete joke
