I agree, but i wanted to add the suggestion just as an out-of-the-box idea.

I fail to see how a "gold-sink" will lower prices. All psychology shows it creates a "have, have-not" scenario for most people where they must have everything, cosmetic or not, in a game. Why do you think micro-transactions are so promiment in modern game industry?

It will only drive prices up, so people can afford to "gold-sink".

I say it is a very bad idea.

There is a huge, blizzlike gold sink coming in a few months: AQ war effort.

I should add to my previous post that gold-sinks will also help gold-sellers / scammers to keep in business.

You don't reduce prices on X by selling Y, you reduce prices by adding more supply of X.

Uh that's a material sink. Does nothing to the existing coin in economy.
Hell it will even work opposite of gold sink. Gold sink increases gold value. AQ effort will increase price of materials thus decreasing values of gold coin...

The only current gold sinks are mount, respec, and slightly the repair cost.

Thanks Rylox, exactly correct.

@Rottenbeauty - it's an economic system after all. It has currency and goods. A gold sink is specifically designed to remove currency from the system. What this does is create deflation, because with less currency in an economic system, goods prices will drop.

The only effect that it will have on gold sellers is that the price of buying gold will go up, since gold becomes more valuable than it was previously. It does not introduce more gold into the system to be sold; in fact it removes gold from the economic system altogether.

Another way to achieve this is to increase the prices of existing gold sinks to compensate for the population. For example, they could make epic riding cost 4x the current amount. But that would destroy the experience for players on an individual level, so not such a good approach.

Hence the idea of adding additional gold sinks rather than breaking the blizz-like experience.

You fail to understand psychology in gaming.

How about making the items from the cosmetic gold sink store have a limited duration, sort of like federation bills/fashion coupons in TERA.

There are way enough gold sinks in this game, be it during lvling or once you reach 60.

I fail to understand how adding more gold sinks out of the box will make players throw away the gold they farmed for useless stuff.
Especially if the plaguebloom/black lotus situation remain the same, to take your example. Same very low supply for such high demand will just result in a complete fail of more gold sinks.

You aint removing any currency with that, unless the gold sink has more in game impact than what people can already buy from other players. And that means a bullshit gold sink.

This server economy was doomed to become garbage as soon they decided to not scale nodes with population, or more precisely, to not cap the server's population in the first place. This game isn't designed to be played by 8k on a single server. Adding more gold sinks won't solve this core issue.
