You have for sure read forums here,
every idea of tinkering with server rules is facing strong negative response.
Thus this is your proof as per community general response.
I don't know about that. I'm sure that you have you seen the amount of threads from people asking for non blizzlike stuff recently. Seems to me that only a somewhat small, but failry loud minority actually responds to these threads. So the fair thing to conclude from that would be that most people seemingly don't care, while a somewhat even number of people want it or are against it. Now do I know that for sure? Of course not, but I'm not the one makeing assumptions in my arguments here.
I hope you see now why you can't generalize like that.

Because Nostalrius is a vanilla server that aims to be as similar to retail vanilla as possible without the need of extremely intensive development effort (those guys are fans, not paid Blizzard employees thus for example talents setup)
While I really don't take a stand on this issue, I have to side with carana and say "it's not blizzlike" isn't an argument. And if blizzlike means "aiming to be as similar to retail vanilla as possible without the need of extremly intensive development effort", then increasing the exp rates surely can't be an issue, since it takes absolutly no effort at all to change it!
Here's a quick tutorial:
1. Open your mangos' config file
2. Search for
- Code: Select all
Rate.XP.Kill = 1
Rate.XP.Quest = 1
Rate.XP.Explore = 1
3. Change the 1 to whatever rate you want it to be
4. Restart your server
Done! This takes 10 seconds max! So, going by your definition, why do you see this as a problem?
