Thanks.
I've been intensively playing at ED for the last two weeks. I've been murdered at STV and Hillsbrad and Ashenvale. I murdered a gnome in Stonetalon. I've run RFC, WC, BFD, SFK and RFK multiple times as an enhancement shammy, though I did have to be the healer for a few of them. I constantly (2-3 times a day) see server messages about Ahn'Qiraj war effort raids happening, so there definitely are raid guilds busy with the Scepter quest line and Onyxia's head is getting turned in at Orgrimmar quite often as well.
So I seriously doubt your claims that 1x rate servers suffers from a lack of population.
As to the OP, I'd like to see some facts beside pointless stating that "many" people would ignore Nostalrius due to constant 1x experience rates. Not to mention that there certainly are people who STILL do enjoy the vanilla 1-60 journey. It's not about being the quickest to get to 60, it's all about the journey to get there.
Personally, I enjoyed that journey in retail vanilla back in 2005/2006 - enough so that while I raided as a mage, I levelled up a priest and a shaman, so the few of you who claim that it was horrible and no-one enjoyed, get real and understand that people are different. You honestly cannot claim that 2x rates would bring in more people than it would turn off -
because nobody knows. Your gut opinion is just as worthless as mine. All we know is that when a server starts deviating from the "Blizzlike" experience, no-one can tell where it ends. Buy your way to 60? 15x experience weekends? Get purples from liking Facebook posts? Slippery slope is a fallacious argument but not everyone considers these things with nothing but cold logic. I know I wouldn't want to play on a server that plays around with the settings like that. Perhaps I'm a tiny minority, perhaps I'm a large majority, who knows.
You claim that 2x EXP rate would have no significance except for shaving off few hours - if it's so meaningless, why do you want it in the first place? Especially as the 1-20 journey is the easiest and quickest part. I would understand if you advocated 2x rate for the the second weekend or the third, when people are getting to the 40-50 area.
In the end, if you have to grind mobs for XP because you can't find any quests, my advice is to stop for a second and think what you're doing. There absolutely are enough quests to get you to 60 without EVER having to grind mobs. Do the elite and dungeon quests. Do the quests that require you to travel all over the world. I've seen few players at ED complain that they cannot find quests and when I point them to a suitable zone, the reply is "I don't like that quest" or "oh there's only few quests there, I don't bother traveling that far for few" and other similar bullcrap. Enjoy the fucking game - we're all doing this for fun, right? If your goal is to get to 60 ASAP so that your guild can get server first on Raggy, all the power to you but honestly, shaving 10 hours off the leveling process is, in my opinion, utterly meaningless in the big picture, when you have to get 40-45 decent raiders geared anyway.

Well, that ends this debate, I guess.
