Nostalrius Begins - Quality wow vanilla realm (1.12)

It seems like the most disccused problem on Nostalrius is the ganking of people who is just trying to level their character? Why not make a "Turn Off PVP" option when you rightclick your character immage? Then you can turn it on when you feel like you want to PVP?

I think a lot more players would stay on Nostalrius and maybe the balance with horde and alliance would be closer to 50/50. That said, the queues would be faster, more people would enjoy leveling without being ganked every 15 seconds.

Fully agree. I quit Nostalrius a couple of months ago because I was sick of the ganking. Perhaps it was my fault for not doing enough research prior to joining, not knowing it was a PVP server. I don't like PvP. Never have done, never will do. I played on a PvE server in Vanilla, and I joined Nostalrius to revisit Vanilla and to once again have the Vanilla experience. My Vanilla experience did not consist of being ganked every 5 minutes.

I've read many pro-PvP players state "if you don't like it, then go play on a PvE Vanilla server!". Well I'd love to, but I've done extensive googling, trying out multiple private servers, but the fact is that all of the popular ones are all PvP only. The most popular PvE server has maybe 40 players per day, in the whole game, whereas Nostalrius' numbers in the thousands. All of the PvE private servers are dead.

I still haven't come back to Nostalrius, and I maintain hope that a PvE server or optional PvP will eventually be introduced.

That option should be only available under level 60 when you level ur char. But ppl will say "Nost is blizzlike" cuz blizzlike for them = all 100% perfect and faultless lol.

This option is called "PvE Server". The devs have stated they do not want a PvE Server, despite how awful things are getting.

That's exactly what a PVE server is, and the admins have been clear that they aren't going that route.

I saw another vanilla 1x server team based out of CZ recently and hurriedly launched, apparently spurred by Nost's launch success (don't know if it's permitted to mention other server names). Unfortunately, they're also PVP, and their population is currently in the low hundreds. Instead of adding to the already over-crowded vanilla PVP server market, I'd hope one of the other teams out there would recognize the demand for a PVE server.

Take advantage of a high pop server by finding instancing groups. It's incredibly easy and you get a ton of gear, meet people, and level without pvp.

Still 5000+ players happily playing all day long. It's not survival, it's flourishing, and your argument in invalid.

This pretty much proves that most people want pvp-servers.

Not perfect and faultless, but punishing and rewarding. Do you know what's the difference between an 10+ lvl npc and enemy player?
The enemy player can be outwitted and escaped.

Dunno about happily. People are addicted and once you get to 50+ you aren't just gonna give up that easily.

I think the situation is quite out of hand and limits people to doing instances only at 50+ (which I would do and have always done anyway at this point so it doesn't bother me) and I don't really know a good solution for this problem anyway. The admins want this blizzlike, and solutions would make it nonblizzlike.

Maybe AV would help, but I think it wouldn't. Horde can't get in there except after prolonged waiting, and they can only go kill leveling 48 level players which give them quite OK honor and absolutely no risk of dying, even if you face 5 of them at once, since their spells are always resisted.

The only thing I can easily think of that the admins can and should do is to turn off the hit penalty for PvP combat like it was in retail Vanilla (+1% resist per level, not 11% for orange and above targets like here). The current situation is not blizzlike and it sucks for the levelers and it sucks for this server.
